Interact club visit to tribal colony

Life Beyond the Hustle and Bustle On 24th February, our school’s Interact-Club members visited a tribal colony along with the teacher coordinator of Interact-Club Jayashree ma’am. We, the interactors, collected necessities such as soap, tooth brush, salt, sugar, mustard seeds…for 22 provision kits each of worth around 1000 rupees which we had planned to donate. Upon reaching there, we were welcomed with warm smiles to one of their houses where my fellow interactors took a session on ‘The Importance of Education’, after which the provision kits were distributed. 10 NCC cadets, Rejitha ma’am and Reni ma’am also accompanied us. Before leaving, our teachers encouraged the little kiddos to continue their schooling and we sang folk songs to mark the end of the visit.


39 th ANNUAL SPORTS MEET

The annual sports meet embodies the zeal, talent and spirit of sportsmanship of the students. Our school's Annual Sports Meet was held on 21st January 2023. The event commenced with the arrival of highly distinguished Chief Guest Mr K J Manoj Lal, Indian Olympic athlete * Welcome speech was delivered by principal, Mrs Sreekala Karunakaran * The annual sports report was read by Sports Captain, Allen Ullas of class 12th . *The presidential address and key note was delivered by Dr R. Balaji, Secretary and Correspondent, S B I O A Educational Trust, Chennai. *Inaugural address and flag hosting was done by chief guest, Mr K J Manoj Lal Indian Olympic athlete. *Torch lighting was done by Mr Paul D Prabhakar Correspondent, S B O A Public Senior Secondary School Ernakulam. *Important sports Achievements are as follows. Alan Ullas of standard 12 won one silver medal in second national kickboxing championship held at Calcutta. Priyamani of standard 9 has won gold medal in track cycling championship held at Guwahati in Assam. A S Krishna of standard 9 has won a gold medal in four group Tul and and ITF national taekwondo championship held at Chennai Ethen Linto has won a silver medal in group Tul and ITF National taekwondo championship held at Chennai. Jayadev J Nair of standard 8 was selected to Kerala State under 14 Cricket Team and he is also the vice captain. *Oath was taken by Neha Kishore class 11th, Assistant Sports Captain. *Prizes were distributed by the Chief Guest. *March past,PT display, Karate ,kickboxing and yoga display was also conducted. *The inauguration of kayakers club was done by Dr R Balaji, Secretary and Correspondent, SBI Educational Trust, Chennai. *100 m race and 4 X 400 m relay race was conducted and prices were distributed. *Vote of thanks by Vaishnav Vipin of class 12th Vice sports captain. The event concluded with the flag retreat and National anthem.


39th Annual day NEELOTHPALAM 2023

SBOA Public (Sr. Sec.) school, Ernkulam celebrated their 39th Annual day NEELOTHPALAM 2023 on January 21, 2023 with the theme ‘Aqua’in connection with the International year of Artisanal fisheries and Aquaculture-2022. The occasion was graced by Mr. Venkata Ramana Bayireddy, Chief General Manager, State Bank of India, Thiruvanthapuram circle as chief guest. The guest of honour for the day was Mrs. Vigneshwari V. IAS Director of collegiate Education, Govt. of Kerala and Managing director, Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC). Our alumni Mr. Vignesh C. G., Scientist ISRO Bengaluru was invited as special guest.Various correspondents of sister schools and SBIOA Management committee members were among the invited guests. Mr. Paul D. Prabhakar, correspondent SBOA Public (Sr. Sec.) school, Ernkulamwelcomed the gathering. The evening commenced with the lighting of the lamp followed by the presentation of the annual report by Principal Mrs. Sreekala Karunakaran. The annual report highlighted the activities and achievements of the school which made all stakeholders feel proud about their school. Mr. P. Nallperumal Pillai, President SBIOA Educational Trust, Chennai presided over the meeting and Secretary and correspondent Dr. R. Balaji delivered the keynote address. Class 10 and 12 toppers of 2021-22 were honoured on the occasion. Best outgoing student 2023 was awarded to Ms Tejasree Praveen of std 12. The management honoured the staff who completed 10 and 20 years of service respectively at the institution. Teachers handling std 10 and 12 were also felicitated. The school magazine ‘Doris’ was released on the occasion. The programme concluded with variety entertainment programmes by the students.


CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION 2022-23

Christmas is a joyful celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. It is celebrated on 25th December every year. It is one of the happiest and enjoyable festivals world wide. Christmas reminds us about the unconditional love of God towards man.


Interact Club of SBOA Ernakulam visited the old age home

Interact Club of SBOA Ernakulam visited the old age home on 29th Nov and donated 120 Kgs of rice and also spent some time with the elderly people!


SBOA's Kayakers' Feat... for a Clean, Green Environment.

Students of SBOA, South Chittoor had a feel good adventure cum awareness and cleaning drive kayaking down the Backwaters at Queen's Walkway on November 21,2022. Shri Nagaraju CH IPS, City police Commissioner & IG inaugurated SBOA's... Kayakers'FEAT which was held in collaboration with Cochin Paddle Club.  10 students and 7 teachers of the school under the able guidance of the rescue team comprising 8 members from CPC Kayaked for around one and a half hours and collected plastic waste left quite callously and thoughtlessly by US humans.  The pledge led by school correspondent Shri Paul D Prabhakar reminded us to live each day reminding ourselves of the promise of responsibility in using and disposing plastic.  The unveiling of the photo booth by Sec and correspondent SBIOA Educational trust Dr. R Balaji and the presence of President of the trust Shri Nallaperumal Pillai added value to a great venture. The principal Smt. Sreekala Karunakaran welcomed the gathering. Ahms Smt. Priya Menon and Smt Treasa T Biju, KG Superintendent Audrey Isaac were there motivating all the participants. All the teachers and the Students' Council members and parents witnessed and cheered the cultural events that included a fancy dress of the endangered water species, a contemporary dance on the nature theme and a group song ...

Teaser to our 4th Outreach program- Kayaker's Feat (A Go Green act to keep the Ocean plastic free) in collaboration with Cochin Paddle Club on the 21st of November 2022 at 3:30 pm in Queen's Walkway.


E waste collection drive

The student cabinet of the school initiated an e waste collection drive recognizing how hazardous the unusable electronic products are for the nature and human health. The students under the leadership of the cleanliness minister Devika Pradeesh and School President Bhadra S Manu, collected e waste and handed it over to a factory to dispose it in such a way that it is not anymore a threat to the mother earth. The leaders spread awareness on the harmfulness of e waste and took classes to their junior batches and encouraged them to contribute to the drive. The class which contributed maximum e waste was awarded with class points in their class report cards. With this drive which spread the message that " when we run behind modern technologies, let us not forget about our mother earth", the students raised a fund of ₹6040 which was handed over to the eco club to do more of such innovative environmental activities.


CHILDREN'S DAY CELEBRATIONS

Like every year our school celebrated children’s day on 14th November 2022 with great joy and pomp. The program started at 10:00 am with the welcome of our Chief guest Mr Kalamandalam Prabhakaran. Welcome address was given by our honourable Principal Mrs Sreekala Karunakaran. She also welcome Chacha Nehru to the dias. A message was given by Chacha Nehru. Our Chief guest gave a short speech on the occasion. He told the students about Pt Nehru and his love for children. He made the audience fill with enthusiasm with his Thullal songs and clappings. The audience cheered him with clappings. We were motivated and inspired by his performance. Our chief guest gave away the prizes to the winners. Vedhika P U of class 1 performed a graceful semi classical dance and Haripriya of class XII performed a melodious song and cheered the audience. Vote of thanks was given by Haripriya . V, ECA Secretary. Everyboby enjoyed the programme a lot.


An anti drug session

An anti drug session was Organised by excise department for the students of Std XI and XII on 15th Nov. The resource person Mr. Babu John, SI of Police gave an excellent session for the students.


Language Week Celebrations

SBOA Public Senior Secondary School South Chittoor has started Language Week. Various programs were presented by the students .


Keralappiravi

In connection with keralappiravi & language week, in assembly various programmes were conducted. The assembly started with Malayalam prayer, speech about keralam, nadanpattu, nrithashilpam ( a part from sahithya manjari written by Vallathol Narayana Menon)


Rashtriya Ekta Diwas

Rashtriya Ekta Diwas was observed by our School under the guidance of the Social Studies department. Students of Std VIII participated in a Run for Unity from the School to the Vaduthala bridge followed by a Pledge for Unity, a speech and a Patriotic song.


Anti-Drugs Campaign-‘Vimukthi Pathh’- A Rise against Drugs.

The teachers and students of SBOA Public (Sr.Sec) School,South Chittoor in association with the Kerala Excise Department, Ernakulam, launched an Anti Drugs Campaign - ‘Vimukthi Pathh’ - A Rise against Drugs. As a part of this campaign, the student-artists along with the Art Teacher Sanjay, painted the Excise Office Compound walls to spread awareness amongst the people. The inaugral function of the Anti-Drugs Campaign-‘Vimukthi Pathh’ was held on Saturday, 15th October 2022 at 3.30 PM at the Zonal Excise Office Complex, Ernakulam. The event was blessed with the presence of Adv. M Anilkumar, Mayor, Mr. Manu Jacob, Councillor, Mr. Sasidharan S IPS, Deputy Commisioner of Police, Mr. P K Sanu, Joint Excise Commisioner and Mr. R Jayachandran, Deputy Excise Commisioner. The ceremony was felicitated by Mr. Anoop Radhakrishnan, Dr. Sunil Moothedath and Mr. Manoj Mathasseril, all of whom are well-known artists and cartoonists. Our Correspondent Mr. Paul D Prabhakar and PTA President Mr. Premkumar M P were also a part of this programme. The event was winded up with a dance-drama performance that conveyed a strong sense of responsibility to the audience.


SCIENCE WEEK

Science week started off with a melange of activities.Mr.Vinod Kumar(Dean of Rajagiri College of Engineering and technology inaugurated the World Space Week and Science week. Declamation on scientists historic speeches were done by students of class IX-XII. Mary Siju of class X gave an insight to the wonders of Chemistry by demonstrating few chemistry experiments. Space Quiz were conducted for the students of Std IX to XII. On day 2 poster making on space 2050 was done by students of 6-8 and students of class I-V had a fancy dress competition on their favourite icons. Day 3 saw the students of class VI-VIII the students of class VI-VIII presenting a skit on elements and chemical reaction , a water cycle Rap song and facts and fiction quiz. On Day 4, students of class 1-V presented a skit on good food habits and on various deficiency diseases. Day 5 witnessed an extravaganza of events. The Std XII students presented a skit of few elements,their position in the periodic table and their reactions. A quiz competition was also conducted.Prizes were distributed by our Principal,Sreekala Karunakaran to the winner of various competitions.


Bambusetum Visit

The students of standard XI got a rare opportunity to visit the Bambusetum, the field research centre of Kerala forest Research institute, Peechi. On October 1st 21 students & 2 teachers visited the Bambusetum which was established in 1988-95 as a part of IDRC,Bamboo project Dr.Sitalakshmi, founder member of Bambusetum introduced us to various species of bamboo and its importance. Bamboo is indeed the future for the planet. As bamboo can curtail landslides,Kerala looks upto bamboo to prevent landslides caused by floods that is becoming common every year. Students had a real experience at Bambusetum


Numismatic exhibitions

Students of SBOA Public (Sr.Sec) School, South Chittoor attended a numismatic exhibitions at Town Hall, Kochi on October 1, 2022. The students were taken round an amazing collection of coins, old and new, in circulation and special ones that the RBI releases on special occasions. The curious students participated in the exhibition excitedly and with great enthusiasm.


Cyber security awareness program

A cyber security awareness program conducted by Kerala police cyber cell officers Akhil sir and Dhanesh sir was held at SBOA School, South Chittoor on 11th October,2022. It created awareness regarding Cyber safety and security. Children understood what cyber bullying was. The officers were particularly concerned about driving in the message that cyber bullying was a crime and messages meant to tease could fall in this category and land the students in trouble. The officers discouraged students from posting personal pictures on social media as they were fodder for child pornography.


ORPHANAGE VISIT

On 17 th September, as a part of Interact-Club activities SBOA school students visited a girl’s orphanage in Aluva to contribute girls accessories, ornaments along with some basic necessities. The children had a great time interacting and left from there with a lesson to do their own work.


Yoga Workshop

Rotary Club of kochi Mahanagar was at SBOA PUBLIC ( SR SEC) ERNAKULAM on 7th october 2022 with a Yoga workshop. The students were taken through an hour's yoga session by the expert Dr. Aswathy. V Nair. Conscious breathing and it's importance in controlling the mind was highlighted


KIDGLOVE 2022

The KIDGLOVE 2022, the Cyber safety awareness program, initiated by Kerala Police conducted on 22 nd September 2022 at IMA hall Kochi. The cyber security club of our school got the opportunity to attend this event. Students realized Drug addiction is a sickness but it’s also a crime


Cleanliness Drive

On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, the Eco Club (OISCA)members and the NCC cadets of our school took part in the 'Cleanliness Drive.' The 'Cleanliness Drive' promoted the values of cleanliness, discipline and respect for the environment in the children and sensitized them about the importance of cleanliness for a healthy & socially responsible nation.


ONAM ORU SANTHVANAM 2022

*Sharing the festival of Joy with the students of Borstal School!* We organized an Onam celebration 'Onam oru Santhvanam' for the inmates of Borstal School, Kakkanad on 1st September at 3.30 p.m. Central Zone Prisons DIG Sri. P Ajayakumar presided over the function. Mr. Hibi Eden M. P was the chief guest and the young actor and our ex- student Sri Balu Varghese was the guest of honour. Principal Smt. Sreekala Karunakaran delivered the Onam message. School Correspondent Mr. Paul D. Prabhakar and teacher Ms.Shaiji Paul interacted with the children. Educational books, novels, badminton racquets , T-shirts and plants collected by the students were donated to the inmates. Our students put up an energy packed performance cheered on by the audience. A few inmates let go all inhibitions and danced with joy. Overall a unique feel good outing for all SBOAns.


ONAM CELEBRATIONS 2022

Onam festivities at SBOA was a much awaited event, celebrated on September 1,2022 with the traditional Maveli, pookalam, Vallam kalli, Thiruvadira and Pulikalli.The school's correspondent Shri Paul D Prabhakar and the Principal Mrs Sreekala Karunakaran gave thought provoking Onam messages.Dressed in the traditional attire typical to Kerala, the students and teachers participated in the celebrations with great fervour. Payasam was distributed to all the students.A thrilling Shingari Mellam had the students on their toes while they swayed and danced to the beats. All in all a fun filled day reminding all the significance and traditions associated with the festival.


SOCIAL SCIENCE WEEK 2022

The Social Science week was celebrated from 8th August to 15th August 2022 with the students of all classes putting up various programs . Day 1 - 8 August 2022 - Quit India Movement day - A mega drawing competition for students of Std I to V and poster making competition for VI to XII and teachers . Day 2 - A chart display on ancient India, skit on seasons, photo identification of famous personalities. Day 3- A chart display on medieval India and a skit on Buddha and Angulimala. An act on "Life before and after Smartphone" was also enacted. Day 4 - A charted display on Modern India and the history of various states, followed by a quiz. Day 5- Independence Day - Social Science Department presented a tribute to the freedom fighters titled 'SALUTE'.Students portrayed the role of freedom fighters and Independence Day speech was delivered by students .


INDEPENDENCE DAY 2022

A befitting Independence day celebration that marks the culmination of Azadi ka Mahotsav! Our school celebrated 76th Independence day on 15th August 2022 with great joy and pomp. The program started at 8:30 AM by welcoming our chief guest, Ms C Aarthi IDAS,Correspondent Mr Paul D Prabhakar. The Welcome address was given by The Principal Mrs Sreekala Karunakaran. Our chief guest hoisted the national flag followed by national anthem.She gave a brief speech on how we are the future of our nation and we should be responsible for our behaviour and what we do to make our country proud. Felicitation and Momento was given by our correspondent Mr Paul D Prabhakar. Class 10 students gave a patriotic song that glorifies our country and its remarkable history. The speeches in Hindi, Malayalam and English were to express our thoughts on the freedom struggle and how today we are fortunate to celebrate the 75th Independence day. This was followed by prize winners of various competitions conducted in connection with 75th Independence Day celebration. The NCC pattern drill amazed the audience with synchronized perfection. The tableau of Std XI and XII were spectacular displays of Independence movements, well conceptualized and well presented. The program by the social science department brought alive the freedom struggle of over a hundred years as the audience witnessed the contribution of uncountable number of freedom fighters who bravely fought for our freedom, many of whom even sacrificed their lives for the freedom we enjoy today. Vote of thanks was given by the student council P Pavan Krishna.


INTERACT CLUB INSTALLATION 2022-23

The installation of the Interact Club for the academic year 2022-23 was held on the 10th of August 2022 at 9:30 AM. The outgoing team, headed by Immediate Past President Rudra Raj gave over their positions to the new team, presided by President Reesha Reegan. The new team was adorned with badges, who swore to do their best during their tenure. The event was blessed by the presence of Rtn. Eipe Kovoor, President of Rotary Club of Cochin North, Rtn. Nirmal Puthan, Secretary, Rtn. Sanju Samuel, Youth Chair and Rtn. Jyothish Prakash, President Elect. With the unwavering support of our Principal Mrs. Sreekala Karunakaran and the Interact Club Coordinator Mrs. Jayasree Suresh, the programme was brought out to be a grand success.


KARGIL VIJAY DIWAS CELEBRATIONS

The 23rd Kargil Vijay Divas was celebrated by SBOA Public (sr. sec) School,at Vanchi Square in a grand fashion on 26th July 2022. The event started with the prayer song by Haripriya,School Cultural Secretary.The principal Mrs. Sreekala Karunakaran welcomed the gathering. Chernellore Panchayat President,Shri Rajesh gave an inspiring talk on the innumerable sacrifices by our Jawans at our borders.Hill Palace Police station CPO, Shri Amal T K was the special invitee. He was honoured with the ponnada and a memento.He congratulated the school for conceptualizing the celebrations lest we forget the sacrifices at Kargil. The NCC cadets of Std XII put up a breathtakingly synchronized pattern drill.The perfection,poise left the audience awestruck.An emotional and thought provoking skit on the theme of “WAR and the LOSSES" left the audience teary eyed.Students of std XI put up a graceful group dance dressed in the colours of the tricolour.All in all a day to remember for SBOANs. MATHS WEEK 2022

On the first day-18th July, Monday, students of std 12th depicted a story on wonders of maths followed by a quiz conducted by 10th std students. On the second day-19th July, Tuesday, students of std2 portrayed the role of two renowned mathematicians accompanied by a song on Roman Numerals. Then we had grade 1 students speaking on their imagination of numbers along with 5th grade students performing a skit. On the 3rd day-20th July,Wednesday, students of std 6th illustrated the different properties of various geometrical shapes. They also had a chit-chat with our principal, Sreekala ma’am on palindromic numbers. Their theme was ‘Henosis Mathematia’ or ‘Unity Mathematic’. On 4th day-21st July, Thursday, students of std 4th presented an energetic song on shapes followed by a display on prime numbers. On the last day- the Grand Finale-25th July, 9th grade students performed a solo Bharatnatyam to depict how we can apply maths on dance as well as it includes counting. Later on, they had a role play portraying various eminent mathematicians followed by a maths sign dance and a maths version of the infamous song Shape of You.


INTER SCHOOL CHESS TOURNAMENT 2022

The District Inter –School Chess tournament under the Aegis of the Ernakulam Chess Association, was hosted by SBOA PUBLIC ( Sr. Sec) School), South Chittoor on July 22nd . The tournament was inaugurated in a solemn ceremony by Silver medalist at the World Amateur Chess Championship, Dr. Nimmy A George. The Principal Mrs. Sreekala Karunakaran gave the Welcome address and the Correspondent, Shri Paul D Prabhakar, an avid chess enthusiast, delivered the Presidential Address. Around 450 players from 40 schools in Ernakulam district participated in the tournament through 7 rounds. The entire team of SBOA staff and volunteers were also present to ensure the smooth conduct of the Tournament.Bhadra S. Manu, School President, proposed the Vote of Thanks in the inaugural ceremony and Allan Ullas, Sports captain proposed the vote of thanks in the Valedictory ceremony. Bhavans Adarsh, Kakkanad were the Overall Champions, Bhavans Varuna, Thrikkakkara were the Runner's Up and SBOA Public ( Sr. Sec) School was placed 3rd in the points table.


INVESTITURE CEREMONY

"Leaders are not born but are made by their experiences." The Investiture Ceremony for the academic year 2022-23 was held on 18 July 2022. Our Principal Mrs.Sreekala Karunakaran welcomed the gathering. The chief guest for the event was Mr. Sam Lesly, SI, Cheranellore Police Station. In his address, the Chief Guest Mr. Sam Lesly appreciated the efforts by the school for providing opportunities to the students to take part in various activities. He conferred the leaders with sashes and badges. Afterwards, the School President Bhadra S. Manu administered oath to the members of the cabinet. The cabinet members resolved to work for the welfare of the school. The programme concluded with Vote of thanks by the Vice President Pavan Krishna, followed by National Anthem


ECA INAUGURATION

The Cultural Activities for the year 2022 – 2023 was inaugurated in a glittering ceremony on 8th July 2022. Renowned playback and multilingual singers, the father-daughter duo of Rony Philip and Leah Anne Philip were the chief guests. The Principal Mrs. Sreekala Karunakaran gave the Welcome address and the Correspondent, Shri Paul D Prabhakar, delivered the Presidential Address. The Cultural Events began with a beautiful welcome dance by the tiny tots of Kindergarten. The court scene from The Merchant Of Venice, a dance drama on Women Empowerment, A Hindi skit along with a cute group dance to the famous Lakadi ki Kathi, ‘Maharajakeeyam’ a recreation of the Legendary Raja Ravivarma’s paintings, & a fusion song were some of the highlights. Shivani and Shivanya of Class 1 put up an energy packed dance performance & a Semi Classical dance by the senior girls was just a glimpse of all the action in store for the year. Haripriya V, the Student Cultural Secretary proposed the Vote of Thanks.


English Week

The English week was celebrated from 23-6-22 to 30-6-22 with students of all classes putting up various programs. The morning assembly became a much awaited affair with fun filled tongue twisters, riddles, action packed choral recitation, skits. There was 'who Am I' for the book lovers too. The grand finale was The song 'Dandelions' And a Flash mob to add to the surprise element.


World Environment Day

On the occasion of World Environment Day, the Eco Club and OISCA of SBOA School planted 29 saplings in the school ground. Tree planting at SBOA School was inaugurated by Panchayath President Sri. Rajesh and Wincy Darees, Panchayath Ward Member.


Reading Day

“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more things that you learn, the more places you will go.” – Dr. Seuss
SBOA Public School celebrated the National Reading Day on Monday, 20 June 2022. Keeping in mind the spirit of reading books and encouraging the same amongst students, an array of programmes were organised on this day. All the students from class 1 to 12 read their favourite story books during the first period. Quiz programme, Speech on importance of reading, story reviews etc. were conducted. The students thoroughly enjoyed this stress free day as it ignited the minds of the young learners. It was indeed an enriching and fun-filled day for the students, which ended with great satisfaction.


Yoga Day

International Day of Yoga was celebrated at SBOA Public (Sr.Sec) School on June 21st 2022. The inaugural speech was given by Yogacharya Shri Jai ji Samagra who emphasized the importance of Yoga and physical exercises in daily life. Students from class 9 and the NCC troop were a part of the program. Yoga was also demonstrated by the students.
